How It Works
Place your order here on the website. Put your discount coupon codes in at checkout if you have any.
Send me at least one clear headshot of your pet. It needs to be a nice clear photo. You can send other photos as well so that I can get to know your pet a little.
Let me know any colour preferences you may have.
That’s it.
Then I paint.
Lead time is anywhere from one to four weeks, depending on how many orders I have at the time. So it is best to order well in advance. If it is last-minute, send me a message, and I’ll let you know if I can squeeze you in.
Painting Pet Portraits
I find painting pet portraits more emotionally and physically intense than painting wildlife or other subjects. There is pressure to get it right and capture characteristics. In that way, it is good for me and keeps me on my toes. These three pet portraits are of animals from England and South Africa. The first pet portrait is of Buttons, a kitten from England. The second pet portrait is of Bertie, a lovely little dog, also from England. The sausage dog is my very own Ruby, homegrown here in South Africa and one of the most well-travelled dogs I know. Ruby, Stitch and I travelled through eleven countries together in a van during COVID. I decided to treat myself to a portrait of Ruby while she is still here, as it hurts too much to paint them when they are gone. I painted Stitch after she left this earth, and it was emotionally gruelling.
