Leodot’s eyes earned him a place on this wall. I nearly threw him away after I painted him. He started as another painting entirely, one that I didn’t like. Trying not to be too hasty, I walked away and came back many months later. His eyes made me think about how I could save him. I liked his eyes. I decided that a collage was his only chance, and so he underwent surgery, a face lift, literally. I cut his face out of the other painting and created a new piece of art.
